I created these collages between physical and digital media. This dynamic allows viewers to more fully immerse in the handmade craft of the works through their unconventional scale.
Typically a disposable and handheld material, these magazine pieces are elevated through their physical change and large visual presence.
Magazines have history and memory embedded within them - highlighted by the visible halftone print and age of the paper. Familiar material that spans decades creates space for people to see themselves in this work.

Quilting and quilt patterns have been an integral part of my personal creative and visual influence. One individual quilt block can change incredibly by using different colors in different places, and that transformation is amplified when using different photos with their own connotations. Their unchanging geometry yet shifting composition mirrors the conundrum of inherently being the same person yet always growing up and becoming new.
